About World vision
World Vision is an international Christian humanitarian organization dedicated
to helping children and their communities reach their full potential by
tacking the causes of poverty. We are inspired by the belief that
each person is created in God’s image. We bring hope and practical
help to children and their families, as we believe Jesus Christ would.
The majority of World Vision’s work is long-term development: drilling wells for clean water; providing health care; building and helping staff schools for children; improving agricultural systems and empowering entrepreneurs through micro-enterprise loans. World Vision also responds to emergencies – whether natural or man-made – such as the 2004 Asian tsunami and the on-going conflict in Sudan.
World Vision was established in 1950 by Bob Pierce, an American pastor who was touched by the plight of orphans during the Korean War. Fifty-eight years later, World Vision today works in nearly 100 countries with more than 30,000 staff and a budget exceeding $2 billion.
Our goal, ironically, is to do our jobs so well that we put ourselves out of business. That we end poverty, as we know it. We have the knowledge and the means to do this – in our lifetime. Let us tell you how. Visit www.worldvision.org to find out more.
